Ok, so it's been about two weeks since I last did anything here. Let's see what I can't scrounge up for today:
Since my last update, the St. Louis sports scene became very active. Ozzie Smith was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Cardinals acquired P Chuck Finley and 3B Scott Rolen in separate trades. The Rams signed Marshall Faulk to a long-term deal and are now
looking to do the same with Orlando Pace. The Blues? Haven't done much. Seem content to be the third best sports franchise in St. Louis. If the Cardinals can sign Rolen to a contract, the Cards and Rams will figure to be major players in their leagues for the next
several years. The Blues are risking becoming an afterthought in the collective St. Louis sports memory.
What is the deal with old people and the lottery? You are 73 years old. Why do you possibly need to win $165 million? And if it's not old people
it's trailer park trash who have spent time in prison and owe considerable back child support, people who will blow their entire winnings in under 10 years. Where's Shirley Jackson when you need her? Seriously, why can't someone relatively young and intelligent win it? Someone
who would take their winnings, invest it and watch it grow, and then 20 years down the road be able to buy a sports franchise like the St. Louis Blues. Just a thought.
So, the debut season of MTV's The Osbournes was very entertaining in a car-crash type of way. But Ozzy, quit foisting your loser kids on us. They suck.
What is wrong with New York? Nobody wants to see a family-friendly NYC, do they? Wasn't the allure of NY in the sleaze and debauchery? Didn't we like the fact that you could walk around and see some crazy person urinating in the street? That, if you stopped and asked for directions from a New Yorker, you'd be told to "Fuck Off"?
Isn't this one sign of the Apocalypse? What the bloody hell is going on here?
Is there any better network on cable than VH1 Classic? I just turned it on during their 80's hour. They're playing Eddie Murphy's "Party All the Time." Quality cheese.
